Singer CHAKA KHAN has been awarded a lifetime achievement prize by the RHYTHM AND BLUES FOUNDATION.
The R+B legend was handed the Pioneer Award at a ceremony in Philadelphia on Tuesday (09Sep08) in recognition of her 35-year career in music.
Others to be honoured with the award at this week's (beg08Spe08) event include soul singer Bill Withers, funk band Kool + the Gang, and Motown legend Teena Marie.
The Rhythm and Blues Foundation provides financial and medical help to artists in need.
